Homeward Oxherds in Wind and Rain， a Song Dynasty（960.1279） painting by Li Di， ink and slight color on silk， 123.7cm×105.6cm， in the collection of the Palace Museum， Taipei.
Li Di， a Southern Song（1127.1279） painter， did well in drawing flowers， birds， bamboos， rocks and animals. His works， such as Homeward Oxherds in Wind and Rain， Fowls in Snow-covered Trees， are handed down to posterity.
The painting depicts the scene that two boys， both wearing bamboo rain hat and straw rain cape， drive buffaloes back home in a stormy day. Swaying branches， the staggering buffalo， boys tightly lying on the back of buffalo， highlight the scene in realistic and vivid approaches.
