The Mermaids

Two aged rocks
Rose from the sea.
Of dark grey
They looked ancient.
Tide had gone down，
I was sitting on the beach.
The aged ancestral rocks
Opened their mouths
And vomited out two mermaids.
The pretty ones sprang up
And danced like waves，
Made faces like the octopus.
Two more came out
Two standing on each rock.
They shrieked， waving their hands，
And danced， laughed wildly.
Sliding down ， they gathered
In the mid sea，
Their eyes popping up，
Their feet stirring the mud.
I watched them in silence.
They came to me， dancing
And waited beggingly.
My refusal enraged them instantly.
They stopped dancing
Blamed me for their leaving
Told me to dance alone
Swam away and entered the rocks.
The mouths shut.
Drowning the footprints
The waves swelled
And the rocks sank， never to rise again.

两座古老岩石
升出海面。
灰得发黑
显示曾阅历洪荒。
潮已退落
我坐在岸边。
那历尽沧桑的原始岩石
张开嘴
吐出两条美人鱼。
漂亮的美人鱼腾然起跃
像波涛那样跳舞
做鬼脸宛如章鱼。
又跳出两条美人鱼
分别站在两座岩石上
尖声喊叫挥着手
且跳且狂笑。
她们跳下岩石
聚在海中央，
眼珠凸出，
双脚搅拌泥浆。
我默默注视。
她们跳着朝我走来
乞求似地等待。
我们拒绝引得她们勃然恼怒。
她们停止舞蹈
责怪我促使她们离去
叫我独自一人舞
说罢游进岩石里。
岩石合上嘴。
波涛上涌
淹没了脚印
岩石下沉，永不再升起。
