Ding Guanpeng became a court painter in 1726, the fourth year of the Yongzheng reign. His painting style was influenced by Ding Yunpeng and Giuseppe Castiglione. He enjoyed equal fame with other painters like Tang Dai, Giuseppe Castiglione, Zhang Zongchang and Jin Yanbiao, and was highly praised by Emperor Qianlong. He was good at drawing Buddhist and Taoist figures and court ladies. This one depicts the leisure life of court ladies.
