In caves with a single purpose
fish were drawn deliberately
from room to room.
pallid Romans employed them
in a kind of masonry.
They even had their own day of the week.
Before that， though，
presumably，
before the nails from Calvary went back
like bullets into the dove on Ararat，
there must have been a fish or two
sharked many a houschold bare，
great bloated sunfish， ogling octopi，
between the bedstead and the hearth with relish
tearing apart all shining，arkless men，
competing for the viscons eyeballs loose
like opals on the suffocated floor.
A seasonable Peripcty assures
contemporary hygiene，
symbol and ancestor alike
hosed out， or splintered off.
Little， or large as cels， fish
fodder us； best of all
on the six days in between.
They build us up
Still
on a slow wheel， sharpening fins
give glints.

当代的卫生健康，
象征和老祖宗
都没冲掉，或被砍去。
小鱼，或大如鳗的鱼
成为我们的饲料；最好的
是一周里那六天。
鱼健强了我们的体格。
再说，
在缓慢的转盘上，磨利的鱼翅
可作燧石。
