I climb up and look out at Auckland in late autumn
Leaning on a railing I survey its innumerable hills
A strong wind disturbs the oak leaves in the park
A fine rain obscures the islands in the gulf
Above, a single tree penetrates the clouds
Below, a thousand vehicles flow by like water
Alone I came to this land of tattooed faces
Alas, letters from home no longer reach me
