怎样在国外买机票
在国外买飞机票不是在机场买，要么是电话预订(reservation)，要么是直接从各个旅行社购买。在国外预订机票的时间可长可短，长的可达一年以上，所以预订的机票一般都是openend，即未经确定的无限期机票，也就是说在机票上Status(订座情况)一栏是空白，在你决定出发日期的前几天，你必须到旅行社去重新确认(confirm)你的机票，这时旅行社将在你的机票Status一栏写上OK字样，此时你的机票才有效。

信用卡和押金在住宿中的作用
到外国住旅馆，他们怕你不结账就离开，通常就会叫你用信用卡先刷卡，不签名；如果你不结账就离开，他们也可以从银行拿到钱。
在美国如果没有信用卡几乎无法住旅馆或租车，即使是小旅馆，如果没有信用卡，除了要先付住宿费以外，还要付一些押金(deposit)，他们会说：Sir，you have to leave a deposit.(先生，你需要留一点儿押金。)
留押金的目的，是为了怕你把旅馆的设备弄坏，因为如果你不结账就走了，为了一点儿小钱，他们也无法告你。

英美国家中的私人支票活期账户
在英美国家，checking account指私人支票活期存款账户。办理checkingaccount后，银行会把印好的正式的支票簿邮寄给你。一般上面有姓名、地址，用的时候要在支票上签名。开了支票，对方拿去用支票，而银行也就支付了，就叫clear。支票活期存款，一般没有利息，而且每当你开出一张支票，银行还要加服务费(service charge)。
每次存款或取款时都要填写一张存款或取款单(slip)。
