◎ Lu’s Spring and Autumn
Once upon a time, a person saw a beautiful bell suspended outside the gate of his neighbor’s house, and wanted to steal it.
One day, he discovered an opportunity when he saw his neighbor’s gate closed. Looking around, he emboldened himself to reach the bell.
However, he suddenly realized that the bell would ring if he touched it, and he would be found out. That would be very terrible! So he came up with an idea, “If I plug my ears, won’t I hear the bell ring?” Then, he found something to plug his ears, and stretched out his hand toward the bell.
Just when he touched the bell, it started to ring. Hearing the chime, the neighbor ran out to see the man stealing his bell, and caught him red handed.
However, the person was confused, “I plugged my ears, but how could you hear the bell ring?” Hearing his comment, his neighbor burst into laughter: This person was just deceiving himself, and trying to disguise something that could not be disguised. Isn’t he troubling himself?
